How this tool picks your route
The cheapest way to get generic semaglutide depends on three things, in this order. A prescription decides whether you are shopping pharmacy counters or need a prescriber first.
Your province decides which chains and online clinics can serve you. And your answer on brand versus generic decides whether the Ozempic Savings Card matters at all.
With a prescription and no preference for the brand, a pharmacy counter almost always wins on price. The tool shows the cheapest chain in your province from our price table, which uses a published August 2026 retail audit where one exists and labelled estimates elsewhere.
Without a prescription, you need a prescriber. Online clinics that bundle the assessment, the medication and shipping cost more each month than a counter, but they get you started without a family doctor. Once you have a prescription, you can move it to a cheaper pharmacy.
If it has to be Ozempic, the tool points you to the cheapest counter for the brand and, outside Quebec, reminds you to ask for the Ozempic Savings Card. The card cannot be used in Quebec or with a public drug plan.

Coverage changes the maths. If a public or private plan pays for semaglutide, your cost may be a copay instead of the cash price. Read how each plan treats the generic before you pay cash.
